Novus Sport and the Sports Innovation Network
Although in its infancy, the Sports Innovation Network is an informal coalition of sports health, medicine, science, and business organizations that have come together to: (1) discuss issues in the sports market; (2) discuss research and science innovation occurring in and around sports; and, (3) develop a greater capacity to innovate within participating organizations.
The array of issues inter-related with sports, exercise and health have never been greater or more complicated, and effect more people than ever before. Now more than ever, effective solutions need to involve more than education and advocacy and require organizations to stretch beyond their traditional approaches.
Real solutions require innovation – creative new ways of thinking about and addressing issues – and dynamic collaborations not only with other like minded organizations, but also with the private sector, the government, and academia.
The Sports Innovation Network is a vehicle to start bringing these organizations together to facilitate innovation, the advancement of innovative ideas and collaboration that will result in effective solutions for the public.
The Sports Innovation Network will be conducting its first series of events during the Joint Commission on Sports Medicine and Science annual meeting being held on February 24-26 in Vancouver.
