Novus Sport launches partnership with American College of Sports Medicine

Novus Sport and the American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM) have formed a partnership to identify and develop new sports-related products and services.
The partnership will identify innovation and discovery in its early stages, determine whether that innovation has market potential, and provide the energy and resources necessary to advance opportunities. The goal is to deliver innovations to the marketplace that enhance physical performance, fitness, health and quality of life.

“Our mission is unique because we focus only on sports-related science and technology innovations,” said Jack Swarbrick, chairman of Novus Sport and a partner with the law firm of Baker & Daniels. “The sports industry is nearly $200 billion in annual sales and includes a diverse cross section of more traditional industry segments like healthcare, media and apparel. We believe there is great promise of continued growth and that this growth is being fueled by a tremendous amount of science and technology innovation. Innovation we are helping to bring to the market.”

The partnership between Novus Sport and ACSM draws on the strengths of each organization. Together they will identify opportunities that have market potential and meet a market need. If a project has merit, they will provide hands-on management expertise and other support to hone the opportunity and accelerate product development.

Novus Sport was formed in late 2004 to recognize, champion and advance early-stage opportunities related to sports science and technology that has the potential to positively impact the marketplace. Located in Indianapolis, Novus Sport is looking for sports-related innovations from across the nation.

The American College of Sports Medicine is the largest sports medicine and exercise science organization in the world. More than 20,000 international, national, and regional members are dedicated to advancing and integrating scientific research to provide educational and practical applications of exercise science and sports medicine.
